There are lots of games out there available for their DS system, but some games are better than others. Here is a list of some of the must have Nintendo DS games 2012, that you need to buy for you or friends that love their DS and gaming.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

This new Zelda adventure was released in December 2010. Zelda has been given some new tricks in this game including a train and the Phantom returns from the Phantom Hourglass game.

This game has several features such as a map that you can leave notes on to come back to or to indicate the areas that you have explored. There are new puzzles to solve using the train, as well as new items and weapons for you to use.

For people that felt that Phantom Hourglass was good, but had some flaws, those have been fixed in this game allowing you to have a better experience. With the new challenges, weapons and train, you will find that this game will be a challenge but will still be enjoyable at the same time.

Spirit tracks's challenging puzzles and funny story line will keep bringing you back to solve the next tricky puzzle.

There are over 220 levels of this game in single player mode, and you can share levels you have created if you have a Nintendo DS Wi-Fi connection. There are over 30,000 items to help you and your imagination to collect the Starites by solving the puzzles. You can side scroll to where the objects are spelled out to solve puzzles which allows them to become real and combinable in the game and to be reused.

To help acquire Starites, the character Maxwell has to solve puzzles. The player writes down the word that comes to mind for an object to use in order to solve the puzzle, such as a bridge to get over a river. Solve enough puzzles, and you get a Starite.

This is a great game if you want something different that is going to challenge your mind and your puzzle solving abilities. This is a great game for kids as the game changes every time you play, it is educational, and has no violence.

Mario Kart DS

With this game, you can race and battle 4 cars, or if you have a Wi-Fi connection, you can have an 8 player game. This game includes tracks from classic Mario Kart games as well as some new tracks and arenas. For those that enjoy craziness and speed, you will not be disappointed, as this has been included in this version of the game. Five different game modes allow you multiple ways to play the game for your enjoyment.

The controls on this game are easy to someone who is new to Mario Kart so they will not have a hard time picking up the game and getting going with it. For those that have access to the Wi-Fi, you can play with a friend who does not own the game, as the Wi-Fi transmits the data needed for competition.

Once you finish all the levels, there are other features in this game you can try out such as trying to beat your scores, or sending a ghost to your friend to see if they are able to beat your times.

Bejeweled Twist

This game comes with 5 different modes, including a 2 player game and a wireless DSi game. There are 90 challenges on 13 different planets, and once you complete them all, you will unlock Eclipse mode. As you get high scores, you are able to earn ranks and upgrade your spaceship.

This is a great puzzle game that requires you to use your brain and plan strategy to maximize your points. To get the best scores, you need to plan what you are going to do several moves in advance to make sure you are able to do the trick you want. But beware, as there are obstacles that can get in your way and prevent you from doing what you want.

This game can be very addicting, so if you think you are just going to pick it up to kill a few minutes, don't bother. Before you know it, several hours will have passed.
